And We Will Call Her Blessed

As it is the day to celebrate Mothers, I will take the opportunity to celebrate mine. She was the light of our lives. Like for so many families, she bonded us to one another, pulling us together with her love. And now we celebrate her without her.

I have so many great memories of her and I laughing, talking, sharing, and dancing in the kitchen to funky 70s music as we cleaned. She was my best friend. Honestly, it doesn't seem fair that she's gone. Her wonderful laugh won't fill up a room, nor will her smile warm our hearts and neither will her presence bring us peace.

Just like the woman described in Proverbs 31, my mother was virtuous, she worked willingly with her hands and she extended her hands to the poor and needy. "Strength and Honor are her clothing; she shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness. She watches over the ways of her household" (Provebs 31: 25-27). And now we rise up and call her blessed.

I want to be half the woman you were, mom.

I love you, mom. I miss you with my whole heart. I can't wait to see you again.

Happy Mother's Day.

Quick little update

I did it! I passed the Idaho Comprehensive Literacy Assessment! All three standards! Not only did I pass, I got a 91% on two of the three standards and an 87% on the other. I'm pretty happy with those scores since I was a bit worried about one of them in particular. Phew...that's over!

So I've got three out of five classes done for the semester. I'll be done by Thursday of next week. I've got a few more pages to write up over the weekend and then take a final test for History on Tuesday. Then a few days of working, and we're off to Portland to see our niece! We can't wait.

Then on Monday, the 17th, I start a three week course. Three weeks! Three credits in three weeks is crazy! Not to mention the class is from 7:30 (AM!) to 11:30 (AM!). For those of you who know me well, 7:30 might as well be 6 am. Or even 5 am. Jason and I are not morning people. We have tried to be but no matter if I go to bed at 10 pm I want to sleep till 8. Sooo...this should be interesting! It's only for a few weeks so I can do it!

I also start my new job in a week. I will be working for BSU Housing as a Community Assistant. Basically I'll be an RA for an apartment complex. I'm really excited to start doing that again. I get to be crafty with bulletin boards and also get to know my neighbors. AND have our rent and utilities paid for in exchange. Dream job. :)

So things are crazy here...as usual. The Lord has given us so much and we feel unworthy of all his blessings. It's like he loves us or something. We would not be where we are with out Jesus.
